An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated, dynamic and flexible individual to join the Governance Branch as Policy Officer, Electoral Review Expert Panel Secretariat at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Secretariat will support the expert panel (Expert Panel) that will be appointed under the Electoral Act 2002 (Electoral Act) to conduct an independent review of the operation of the 2018 electoral and political donations reforms and other matters (Electoral Review). The Expert Panel will consider the operation of the 2018 reforms, whether Victoria should have expenditure caps, and may consider matters relating to contemporary trends in electoral funding. The Expert Panel will also consider recommendations donations-related recommendations from the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission's Special report on corruption risks associated with donations and lobbying, released on 12 October 2022.
As Policy Officer in the Secretariat, you will ensure that the Expert Panel is provided with high-quality and timely advice and support the Panel to deliver its report.
The role requires strong research, policy, and communication skills, coupled with an ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide policy advice and support to a range of internal and external stakeholders.

- Demonstrated policy experience, including analysing and critically evaluating information and developing innovative and effective solutions to policy problems.
- Sound planning and organisational skills, including setting clearly defined objectives and priorities and identifying processes, tasks and resources to track progress and achieve a goal.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to prepare briefs, letters, emails, and reports using clear, concise, and grammatically correct language.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise tasks and to work flexibly across projects to deliver outputs, with a capacity to readily accept and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
