Small Plant Mechanic

Purpose of Position:
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all small plant items are continuously maintained and kept in good working order. The Small Plant Mechanic will work with the Small Plant Coordinator to run the small plant as an independent business unit, with all related functions, and maintain good communication with the site to ensure a good working relationship.
Requirements:
· Matric
· Valid Driver’s license
· 3-5 years' experience as small plant mechanic
· Ability to train others to use, repair and maintain various machines
· Good record keeping is essential for this position
Key Responsibilities:
Ÿ Conducting all mechanical work and repairs to small plant and equipment, including generators, grinders, concrete mixers, etc.
Ÿ Scheduling and executing planned maintenance for the small plant to minimize downtime • Continuously improving operations by reducing costs, maintaining housekeeping, and managing inventory
Ÿ Managing the SHEQ of the small plant division
Ÿ Coordinating the calibration of survey, measuring, and lifting equipment
Ÿ Managing the stores and all related functions, including sourcing spare supplies and parts, liaising with buyers for procurement, and dealing with mechanical suppliers
Ÿ Conducting preventative maintenance to prolong the life of machines and equipment
Ÿ Preparing job cards for each repair and preparing monthly damage reports
Ÿ Planning maintenance/servicing schedules
Ÿ Coaching and training staff and supervising their work at all times
Ÿ Conducting site staff training
