The Toyota Academy (FS Cheetahs) in Bloemfontein is seeking a Strength and Conditioning Coach to join their team.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
1. Physical conditioning of Players
1.1 To improve the:
Ø Speed and agility;
Ø Power and strength; and
Ø The fitness of players.
Ø On field conditioning.
2. Nutrition and supplements
Ø To guide the players regarding nutrition and supplements.
Ø Order and managing supplements from the preferred supplier.
Ø Provide sound rehydration strategies during field sessions and matches for FS Cheetahs rugby teams.
Ø Source, negotiate and implement an optimal supplement sponsorship plan for the FS Cheetahs rugby S&C department.
3. Conditioning and training statistics
Ø Responsible to optimize the Polar GPS system;
Ø To ensure Rugby related protocols;
Ø Regular feedback to the coaching staff.
Ø Continuous reporting on players on field sessions, all training sessions in the gymnasium.
4. Recovery and injury prevention
Ø Implement recovery strategies at training and during matches
Ø Make use of best available technology to assist in the identification and monitoring of fatigue.
Ø Design warm-up and cool-down sessions that are specific to the field training sessions.
Ø Conduct final phase physical sessions in conjunction with the head physiotherapist and medical doctor in order to clear players for training sessions and
matches.
Ø Be aware of medical conditions of all contracted Toyota Academy rugby players.
Ø Consult with the head coach in the design of the weekly schedule to optimize player and team performance.
5. Physical Preparation
Ø Implement S&C programs that are in line with FS Cheetahs Rugby coaching strategies.
Ø Implement and monitor prehab, weight training and field conditioning with the correct volume and intensity as demanded by the time
of the season.
Ø Complete individual and team load monitoring assessments and manipulate training planning. Communicate effective monitoring
principles across all Toyota Academy rugby teams.
Ø Attend all Toyota Academy field sessions as well as all gymnasium and conditioning sessions.
Ø Implement regular player S&C assessments of all the contracted Toyota Academy rugby players & communicate to Head Coach as
Ø required.
Requirements:
· Relevant Sports management (Science)qualification. Biokinetic Degree or Post-Graduate degree in human movement or exercise and sports science or physical education preferred.
· World Rugby Level 2 (On-Field Coaching).
· World Rugby Level 2 (Strength and Conditioning).
· At least 3 years’ experience as a Strength & Conditioning Coach at a Professional Franchise.
· Experience in interpreting of GPS data to improve player welfare and conditioning.
Salary negotiable depending on experience.
